Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL FOR ASSESSMENTS OR THERAPY?

We do not require a referral from your doctor or mental health professional. If you have another clinician who has referred you to us for your assessment, you are more than welcome to send their referral information as part of your intake package.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

Therapy

Please note that we require at least two business days' notice for cancellation or re-scheduling of therapy appointments. If this deadline is missed, the client will be billed at the regular rate for the appointment.

Assessment

We require at least two weeks' notice for cancellation or re-scheduling of assessments. If this deadline is missed, the client will be billed for the number of in-person or virtual hours that would have been spent with the clinician performing the assessment.   The cancellation policy allows our administrative team to schedule clients waiting for appointments and considers the clinician’s time and the clinic's costs. We recognize that emergencies and unexpected circumstances can sometimes occur, and we will review these situations and supporting documentation on a case-by-case basis.

HOW CAN I BE ADDED TO THE CANCELLATION LIST?

The cancellation list is only available for assessment clients. Therapy waitlists do not have a cancellation list.  The cancellation is for clients who are available at short notice and are hoping for an appointment sooner than the waitlist. It does not guarantee an earlier appointment.

WHAT IS THE JANE APP?

The Jane App is a secure online administrative program which we use to manage appointments and billing.  Using the Jane App, you will be able to complete the intake forms, process payments, access appointment receipts, connect to your video call appointments, and access assessment documents, such as your report.  We kindly ask that clients create a login for their Jane App at the time of completing the intake forms and store a credit card on file to process payments. For more information about Jane App payment security please visit their website

WILL MY INSURANCE COVER THE ASSESSMENT?

Psychologists and Registered Clinical Counsellors are not covered by the Medical Services Plan (MSP) in British Columbia. If you have extended health coverage, you may submit your receipts to your provider for reimbursement. We do not bill insurance companies directly.

WHAT IS THE PARKING SITUATION?

We are located at suite 100-1330 West 8th avenue in Vancouver, BC.  Street parking is available; on our block, street parking is metered, however there is some 2-hour free street parking in the neighbourhood.  Paid private parking lots are available in our area. Note: there are no private lots which connect directly into our office, you will need to access our building from the street entrance. The closest transit access points for our office are the #9-bus on Broadway between Birch and Hemlock, the #10-bus on Granville and Broadway, and the #16-bus on Granville and 7th avenue.

HOW EARLY SHOULD I ARRIVE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

We recommend arriving up to 10-minutes prior to your appointment start time, to give yourself time to find parking. Please note that if you have a 9am appointment or a 6pm appointment, the exterior doors may be locked. In this case, please either call our office, or contact your clinician to let you into the building.  If our office doors are locked (typically at the beginning of the day, or after lunch), you are welcome to wait in the building lobby, and our staff will unlock the door 5-minutes prior to your appointment start time.
